From the mint family, Spearmint with its warm, herbaceous, penetrating odour, is clearing and makes a good inhalant oil. It is particularly effective in uplifting spirits in someone experiencing mental fatigue and depression, is helpful in digestive disorders such as nausea and flatulence and with respiratory congestion.

Some people prefer the slightly gentler aroma of Spearmint to Peppermint oil. Spearmint may be used in massage oils, creams, baths, as a direct inhalation in a diffuser or vaporiser.
